LEER Locker Commercial Cap

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

The LEER Locker combines a full-height aluminum truck cap with integrated front-access toolbox storage, giving contractors secure space for both cargo and frequently used tools. We built this cap for crews who spend the day moving between job sites and need instant access to equipment without climbing into the bed.

The aluminum construction sheds weight while maintaining the durability required for daily commercial use. Full walk-in height lets you stand inside to organize materials, and the front locker compartment keeps hand tools, cordage, and small parts separated from larger cargo. Every panel is designed to handle the knocks and scrapes of real-world work without requiring constant touch-ups.

Aluminum construction and finish

We use marine-grade aluminum throughout the LEER Locker frame and panels because it delivers the best strength-to-weight ratio for daily work use. The material resists the rust and corrosion that eventually compromise steel caps in wet climates or winter road salt environments.

The aluminum extrusions at every seam and corner create rigid joints that don’t flex or separate when you’re loading heavy material or driving over rough terrain. We finish every panel with a powder-coat process that bonds to the aluminum at the molecular level, so paint chips and scratches stay localized rather than spreading. OEM-matched colors are mixed to factory specifications for Ford, Chevy, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan trucks.

Sizing & fit

Front locker storage system

The front locker compartment spans the full width of the bed and sits at chest height when you’re standing at the tailgate. This placement puts your most-used tools within arm’s reach without requiring you to climb into the bed or dig through cargo.

Inside the locker you’ll find a carpeted floor to protect finished tools and two adjustable shelves that slide or remove completely depending on what you’re carrying. The locking mechanism uses the same key as the main cap doors, so you’re managing one key instead of separate sets for different compartments. Weatherstripping around the locker door keeps dust and moisture out even when you’re driving on gravel roads or through rain.

Door and window configuration

Side door access

Dual side doors open wide enough to slide sheet goods and long lumber into the bed without fighting tight angles. Each door uses a three-point locking system that engages at the top, middle, and bottom of the frame to prevent prying or flexing. Gas struts hold the doors open at any position, so you’re not propping them with your shoulder while you load.

Glass and ventilation

The bulkhead window maintains rear visibility for safe lane changes and backing up. Sliding side windows include screens so you can ventilate the cap interior on hot days without letting in job site dust. Every window uses tempered safety glass that meets DOT standards for vehicle glazing.

Perfect for electrical work
I run a three-truck electrical crew and we put Lockers on all our service trucks. The front toolbox keeps my daily tools separated from the wire spools and conduit in the main bed. Haven’t had a single rust spot after two winters of road salt.

Finally enough standing room
I’m six-two and I can stand up straight inside this cap without hitting my head. Makes organizing materials so much easier than the old cap where I was always hunched over. The side doors are wide enough to slide in ten-foot boards without wrestling them.

Toolbox feature is a game changer
We used to keep a separate toolbox in the bed that took up floor space and slid around. The built-in locker frees up that space and keeps everything locked with one key. My guys can grab what they need without digging through cargo.

Holds up to job site abuse
I work commercial HVAC and this cap has taken a beating from ladders, sheet metal, and ductwork. The aluminum doesn’t dent like I expected and the paint is holding up better than my last fiberglass cap. Locks still work smooth after a year of daily use.

Roof rack mounts are solid
I mounted a full ladder rack on top and it hasn’t flexed or cracked at all. The factory holes lined up perfectly with my rack system. I’m carrying two extension ladders plus a few shorter ones without any stress on the cap.

Great for plumbing service calls
We do residential service plumbing and the leer locker setup is ideal for keeping clean tools separated from dirty drain equipment. The front locker stays organized and the main bed holds pipe, fittings, and the water heater we always keep on hand. Ventilation windows keep things from getting musty.

Good to know

Common questions about the LEER Locker

The front locker occupies approximately 12 inches of bed length at the bulkhead, leaving the remaining bed space fully open for cargo. Most contractors find the trade-off worthwhile because the locker eliminates the need for a separate toolbox sitting on the bed floor, which often takes up more usable space and blocks access to the sides. The locker compartment is elevated, so you can still slide long materials underneath it when needed.

Yes, the reinforced roof structure includes factory-drilled mounting points that accept most aftermarket ladder rack systems. The roof supports up to 500 pounds of evenly distributed weight when racks are properly installed. We recommend professional installation to ensure mounting hardware engages the structural supports rather than just the roof skin. Many contractors run full ladder racks, conduit carriers, or equipment baskets on the Locker without any issues.

All locks on the LEER Locker are keyed alike, meaning one key operates the side doors, rear door, and front toolbox compartment. This eliminates the need to manage multiple keys on a job site. The three-point locking system on each door engages latches at the top, middle, and bottom of the frame for security. You can request all caps in a fleet to use the same key code for simplified key management across multiple trucks.

The Locker is available for short bed, standard bed, and long bed configurations across Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan full-size trucks. Each cap is manufactured to match your specific truck year, make, model, and bed length, so fitment is precise at the bed rail and cab interface. Custom measurements are taken at the time of order to account for any aftermarket modifications like bed liners or tonneau cover rails that might affect cap fit.

Marine-grade aluminum provides comparable strength to steel at a fraction of the weight, which improves fuel economy and reduces wear on truck suspension components. The aluminum alloy used in the Locker resists corrosion far better than steel, especially in winter climates where road salt accelerates rust. The extruded aluminum frame joints are designed to handle the same loading and impact forces as steel commercial caps. Contractors who’ve switched from steel often report fewer paint chips and no rust-through issues even after years of heavy use.

Yes, the LEER Locker is available with OEM-matched paint for all major truck manufacturers. Colors are mixed to factory specifications and applied through a powder-coat process that bonds permanently to the aluminum. If your truck has a custom or aftermarket color, the cap can be finished in a primer coat for painting by a body shop to match. The powder-coat finish is more durable than traditional automotive paint and resists chipping from gravel, branches, and job site contact.

The bulkhead window maintains clear rear visibility for safe lane changes, reversing, and general driving awareness. The glass is positioned at the same height as your rear window and is sized to provide an unobstructed view through the cap and out the rear door glass. Many contractors report better visibility with the Locker than with solid bulkhead caps because you can see through the entire length of the bed to monitor traffic and obstacles behind you.
